Founder
A self-taught designer with a vision to bring the finest craftsmanship to people.
Chaitalee shah (shraddha) is associated with Garvi-gurjari for over 17 years now and has been collaborating with the artisans ever since. Having acquired the skills of Leatherwork, beadwork, bandhej and block printing she believes that creativity and craftsmanship are two sides of a coin.
She has a very strong association with Bhuj, the place and the people so when her friends and other clients from Garvi asked her open her own label she decided to try her hand with design, with a ray of the positive response she got inspired to start MODE a label with a foundation laid in an artisan based collaboration.

Our Story
MODE is a contemporary Indian brand that believes design to be a form of self expression. It is an amalgamation of traditional and modern sensibilities. Conventional techniques are employed to create modern relaxed silhouettes. Each garment is a culmination of an empathetic partnership between designer, artisans, and karigars.
The label strongly believes in a sustainable future and promotes coexistence, ecological balance and humanity. The textiles used are of utmost significance and are crafted in different parts of India. The colours used for dyeing are 100% organic and carries artisans love and warmth. The brand attempts to add a touch of luxury and ignite a perception of exquisite beauty towards the traditional fabrics.
Our design philosophy revolves around the idea of minimalism, clean cuts and relaxed silhouettes provided in pure fabrics that reflect the richness of Indian culture.

How we started
It all started in Bhuj, spending time amongst the artisans when I realized the importance of taking a pause and leading a simple life, making sustainability our core ingredient at Mode by Shraddha. Our studio is based in Ahmedabad, the manchester of India. Surrounded by the ever-inspiring cotton industry and immersed in the cultural heritage every choice of where we work, how we work, is a conscious effort to use less and do more. In this era of fast fashion, we want to change the pace of living and inspire people to do so.

What we do
We design with a long-term perspective in mind, our designs are more timeless and have a longer life-span than the average clothing. We want people to cherish our garments by wearing them again and again. Our business plan includes the people who make our garments, our dyers, our weavers, and our tailors. At the end of the day, the growth of our craft community is our ambition.

At MODE we follow a very contemporary flow of the design process. Fabrics are our muse and the designs created are inspired by them. Each fabric is skillfully developed by our artisans. At times the design team and the artisans sit together and design the fabrics, thus sharing the knowledge of their respective fields and forming a tight bond amongst them. In the design studio, a team of designers work on researching the trends for the upcoming season. Based on the trend analysis, fabrics developed and customer reviews the next collection is designed. MODE also provides size customization for their clients. Wherein the client has an option for getting the looks custom-fit to their size and comfort.
